Bamidele Olawale poem, 'African Poem' wins the October Edition of the Monthly Writers Series.
THE AFRICAN SAND
See the golden rays reflect as they strike my brother's skin
See its orange color clothe my sister's teeth.
Here, the sun sets and the moon brings market of stars to our night
So subtle and with ridges of clouds and stars.
Here, hair recoils with majesty
Drums echoes comb the shy shrubs
Kissing through the proud branches of the Iroko.
Here, there's so much essence beyond physical beauty.
Rivers find their way
Deserts make their space with bounds
Here, where the gods resides in arrays
The African Sand - on this rock we thrive.
