ACW-UA POETRY : Have you ever been heartbroken and disappointed, due to a failed love? Read this piece of poetry by Dominic Nwobodo title "The Bird.."

The bird...

The bird sings,
The sky is wear and fleer,
The moon is gone
The morn isn't fair;

Thought I found a piece of olive,
Beyond the to'er,
The river of love
Never kissed the shore;

Oh! The bell rings,
My Olive, away,
Time springs
For a darling May.

       BACKGROUND OF THE POEM. 


The poetic personae is symbolical to be a Metaphorical bird.
 The gloominess of the sky   shows he is not in the right state of mind. Night silently crept away and a new day was born. the following lines will explain what engender the outlandish moodiness of the poet.

  Stanza two of the poem plainly give us a vivid picture of what instigated the poet sorrows: the lady, who he love, don't seem to reciprocate the love. The way the poet metaphorically describe the lady weaved a perceptible imagery of her beauty ( line5: pieceof olive/ line6: beyond the tower)

   The last stanza idyllically  knotted the poet uneasiness and restiveness: the poet has decided to relinquished the beloved lady. However, he expressed optimism by saying that the right lady who will reciprocate his love will surly come at the right time ( time spring,  for a darling may). 
Didactically,  The poet is admonishing lovers to remain  phlegm and be optimistic if the person who they love dont love them in return. The right lady will surly come at the right time.    

The poem explore the theme of intoxication of love, hope and fate, unrequited love, sorrows engendered by unrequited love, beauty ,and constancy of time
Another interpretation of the poem is about life. Sometimes challenges will come . people who we love, dreams and anticipations will go away . Other saddening challenges will come to make us cry and gnashed out teeth. However , the ability to be optimistic , patient, and dogmatic in pursuit of our desires will make a striking difference in the long run.

In a second thought, the poem can be analysed in the level of Dilemma, disappointment and pain, but in the long run things shall turn around for a better.
