A SPEECH PRESENTED BY AGBO ALEXANDER FRANCIS IN HONOUR OF THE FORMER VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROF.ADIKWU UMALE MICHAEL ON HIS SENT-FORTH CEREMONY BY THE NATIONAL UNION OF BENUE STATE STUDENTS, UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA CHAPTER ,ON THE FRIDAY, 8th OF NOVEMBER, 2019. AT PAN-AFRIQUE HOTEL GWAGWALADA, ABUJA.

I found nothing so complacent within my firmament to bracket the world with, rather than being just a mere place of assignment. A place where we all have come to lay bare our contributions, and it's not to be forgotten that the true nature or the authenticity of these contributions will be tested like a postulation or discovery undergoing the scientific methods in order to gain approval of validity, coherency and consistency prior becoming a theory.
We would be remembered of the things we do. The things we do are the most important things of all. They are more important than what we say or represent. They are like monuments that people build to honour heroes after they have died. The things we do are like the pyramids that the Egyptians built to honour the Pharaohs, only instead of being made of stones, they are made out of memories people have about you. This explains why your deeds are like your monuments built with memories instead of stones.
We have being obliged by law to reflect and honour the efforts and contributions of our heroes past, but little or no, is our consciousness of a hero who has brought the future to the present in that the destiny of the future can be told from our standpoint. The ambiguity or obscurity that accompanied this expenditure has made me a philosopher trying to excavate the mystery behind the veil.
From the rising of the sun to its setting is an invitation for us to number and appreciate the sui generis over flow of goodness from our former vice-chancellor prof. Adikwu Umale Michael, a man who hails from Ijege Amejo Edumoga in Okpokwu local government area of Benue state. He is a man born human with saint's sensibility. His simplicity and hospitality are no less than the countenance that bore the saviour of the world. Sir, your efforts and contributions wonder our minds in that we debate inwardly as to probe whether your molecular basis of heredity are of heavenly constituent. Your (DNA) is one experiment that hospital mechanism can not prove because it is super human from every sense of credibility, assessment and judgement.
Sir, it is not in my character to adulate or diefy you with words as trending in our society but however, to relate the quality of your service while with us in the University; the truth I'm oblige to say, and noting but the truth. I'm only but a delegated mouthpiece to tell the world about how your skillfulness has brought pride and glory to the university of Abuja. It is no apology to this beautiful audience to posit that the handwriting you've bisected on the University's wall can not be erased for a hundred years to come because it is  spectacular and edifying to every creature that embraces development.
The standard of this university was noting compare to a polytechnic or college when others headed it as its vice-chancellors prior your innovative inbuilt mechanism that gives us a voice today amongst students of other institutions.
My former vice-chancellor sir, your song of praise is on the lips of every creature that has ever traveled down the lane where the university is situated; from the least to highest, upon every wall are the glorious comments about you in that the university's soil takes no delight in silence. During your rein as our vice-chancellor, you dismounted the sculptures that were built by internal strikes and mismanagement of facilities and funds which pulled backwards the university like a club deduced for relegation.
Today we your students send you forth not because we append our signatures to this injustice the world has done to us. The world is a wheel-tie on our progression because it identify not with the trustworthy. The world has little or no idea about a good man who is born capable to render the needful. With our hands tied to our legs we lament your send-forth like the women of Jerusalem who mourned at the Lord's sepulchre. What  more confidence do we have to approach our files in the Senate building when scrutiny of personality lays ambush? Would the senate takes us for who we are and subscribes to our needs as you deed? Would our admission be of merit anymore..? These are are questions that I have brought before you and this audience because they are deduced to be ultra vires.
Today we coalesced to say in one accord; even if we give out everything, one thing we shall treasure like the vineyard of the biblical Naboth is the good name you have made for yourself and of course for us especially, students from Benue State. This baton of honour and praise we shall deem fit as obligation to treasure and as such, pass it to the coming generations of students.
It is our final submission at this send-forth that the Almighty God who has showed you this path of nobility, accountability and transparency will bless and keep you for greater appointment in life. (Amen). Be happy, noble heart, be blessed for all the good thou hast done and will do hereafter, and let our earnest and sincere gratitudes remain in obscurity like your good deeds.
We love and cherish you, for you are one philanthropist, hero and God-sent to the university of Abuja to address management lacuna that has envisaged its administration, and that you fought and conquered prima facie.
