The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi has said the management was addressing “two critical issues affecting the university community”.

The VC, in a message addressed to the students on Friday, said the issues behind the strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities will soon be resolved.

Prof. Maikudi also stated that the management was working to provide “specific measures” as regards the week-long intermittent electricity supply, which has affected the students.

The massege reads: “The university administration understands the disruption and inconvenience these issues have caused and concrete steps are being taken to address them.

“1. ASUU Strike: The university leadership wants to assure you that the newly inaugurated council and university leadership are fully committed to resolving this issue. We are actively engaging with all relevant stakeholders to negotiate and find a resolution. Our goal is to ensure that academic activities for all students can resume as soon as possible, and we are making every effort to expedite this process.

“2. Electricity Supply: Management recognizes the significant impact that the lack of reliable electricity has on your studies and daily life on campus. Please be assured that we are prioritizing the restoration of a reliable power supply, and are working diligently to restore consistent power supply. Specific measures are being implemented to resolve this issue at the earliest possible time.”

The VC added that “your patience and understanding during this challenging period are greatly appreciated. We are committed to keeping you informed of our progress and any new developments.”
