INTERVENTION
A heart of burning flames
An anguish seeking for intervention;
Hoping to quench the flame in her heart
North and East, South and West she runs,
Still the flame in her heart seems to increase
She asks, when will my heart be free?
Crime and terrorism, unemployment,
Corruption, recession, unhealthy environ,
dilapidated infrastructure,
Deprived educational system
Feed the flame in her heart
In her squalor she seeks for intervention,
But not many want her though,
A comity of her own and knots seem to weigh her down
She cries, when will my heart be free?
I am the giant among the fifty-four of my kind
I am the eye of aesthetics,
Full of natural benisons
To be compared with that of the Promised Land;
My image is untouchable
But now it seems all that constitutes a liaison to my beauty
Is gradually fading away
She laments, when will my heart be free?
What could precipitate her predicament?
Regression to history reveals the Nidus of the flame
Through the flaws of the leaders and the inaction of the citizens.
At peak the flame hurts even more,
I can hear the agony of my children
When will their cry be heard?
When will my heart be free?
Hope, her generational prayers will be answered
One day, our saviour will be here to restore our promised land
One day, there will be an eclectic leadership with good rapporteurs
Without lies in their tongues
One day, there will be no more stillborn promises
One day, there will be reformed system of education, and share of resources
One day, the flame in my heart will be quenched
And rapturous melodies of my children will be heard.
