The Academic Staff Union of Universities
( ASUU) has begun an indefinite strike due to irreconcilable disagreements with the Nigerian Government.
The union’s President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi , at a press briefing at its National Secretariat in Abuja earlier on Monday noted that the Federal Government had failed to address the issues raised by its members.
Naija News recalls that the Nigerian government rejected the union’s demand for 18 months to develop its alternative payment application, the University Transparency and Accountability System (UTAS), as its preferred mode for the payment of salaries of academic staff.
