It wasn't a small drama last night 1st of May 2020, at the boys' hostel, Mini Campus, Gwagwalada at about 9.00pm as a student was caught in the act of theft: According to live reports, they were two, but one escaped with the custody of two phones, while the other one ran into the kitchen of Block 37, Boys Hostel with the stolen iPhone6 in hope of not being caught, however the pursuers trailed him to the kitchen where he lurk behind the dark.
He was caught and while some boys tried to save him from the aggressive mob of students, armed with sticks, wires and stones locked in hands, he was forcefully dragged out and beaten mercilessly.
"It was an eye sore" a boy said. "He nearly died".
He was beaten, some hurling stones on him, some kicking him, some hitting him and others trampling on him as he lay helplessly on the ground. "Save for two boys who pulled him up and dragged him to the security office at the Hostel gate, he would probably had died" someone said.
Eye witness reports confirmed that, the two boys who assisted in pulling and dragging him to the security sustained serious injury from angry students who unleashed their anger on them for trying to save the suspect.
The suspect was hurriedly dragged to the security office, amidst beating and stoning where he was guided from the angry boys who stood at the entrance of the office chanting and shouting infuriatedly.
In response to the increasing pressure from the students for the boys to be released for jungle justice, despite pleadings from the Security men, men of the Nigeria Police Force arrived the scene after about 40 minutes, and pleaded with the students which was also abortive.
The Police men armed with riffle however forcefully took the boy away from the security office into their vehicle for further investigation and interrogation.
