ACW-UA PRESS : WHY WE ARE NOT IN SUPPORT OF THE PROTEST : It is unjustifiable - Com'rd Aminu Ibrahim Onipe

At the background of the protest by students of the University of Abuja, lead by the Student Union Government, President, Mr
Oladoja Habeeb Olawale, student leaders and stakeholders, the President of Faculty of Social Science Association (FOSSA) and the Chairman of Council of Presidents (CON), Comrade Aminu Ibrahim Onipe popular known as BRAMZY in a document signed by himself stated that "The Leadership of the Association (FOSSA) after due consultations, consideration and deliberation decides to dissociate itself from the Protest staged to hold later today 1st February 2020."

"The Leadership of the association after going through the response of the Vice Chancellor regarding the communique earlier released and also the physical meeting held with the management and SUG finally agreeing to the demands"

Comrade Aminu Ibrahim Onipe speaking with our News men said that "As the President of Faculty of Social Science Association and Chairman of the Council of Presidents, I take responsibility for anything that happens within this two Associations and I signed the communique issued by the Student Leaders in his capacity as the Head of this two bodies"
He comfirmed to us that, "It's was a collective decision that [he] presided on"

When asked, what lead to this decision?
He said, "the response of the VC regarding the communique issued by the Student Leaders consists of four (4) demands, which the VC meet with the Student Leaders on Sunday. They deliberated and the VC responded to two of the four demands.
I felt like we've been responded to and we should wait for the implementation of this resolution instead of opting for a protest which ought to be the last hope of a struggle.
Secondly, from experience as a Comrade who has served leadership positions in different capacities both with and outside the school, I can't jungle with the safety of my students when I was not having a comfortable and assuring feedback from the Student Union Government regarding the safety of protesters.

When asked if the protest is justifiable, he said "It depends on the demands. If it is regarding the communique released, it is not justifiable because the management responded to the issue outlined and had a resolution with the students.
He also claimed to have received threats and pressure from various students angle since he made his stand known. He said, "Everybody would have to account for his or herself but in my capacity as the President of FOSSA and Chairman of Council of Presidents (COP), my decision remains. However, we should never stop protecting the right of the students. I am still a combatant Comrade.
