This Annual Ritual is one of which all new Lawsanites must pass through to become an Advocate, Barrister or Solicitor at the LAWSAN Bar and the Opening of the Annual MOOT and Mock Trials and Competitions among Chambers and Law Firms in the Faculty.

This year's edition has OBA MADUABUCHI. SAN as the key note speaker and special guest of Honour.
Among the Honourees was the Dean of the Faculty of Law ably represented by Dr. Nasiru Muktar.

The Opening of the Legal Year is ritually done by a Procession from the Faculty to and fro the school.

In the tradition of the procession The LAWSAN Judiciary lead by the CHIEF Registrar and Chief Justice of LAWSAN followed by the Senior Advocates of LAWSAN and Members of the LAWSAN Parliament lead Lawsanites on this walk.

The event was greased with the presence of  remarkable Lawsanites and the indomitable LAWSAN Debaters from different Chambers of the Faculty.

Matthew Hope,
Isika Florence,
Egede Edwina,
Ganna Happiness,

The Event which appeared clean and well planned however threw disappointments to some respondents who identified themselves as Idoko Joseph Josephine a LAWSAN Registrar and Unini Janet Abadaki they mentioned that " the procession ought to be a sober walk but most people were seen talking and disarrayed"

Some 100L students were giving audience by our Press men, they expressed interest and anticipated views, a 100L student Christiana Ojo has this to say, "... I've never experienced this, but I expect to see the best of the faculty through our seniors, learn so much in the chamber activities and also build myself gradually knowing fully well that I'm now a Lawsanite"

Ikpeoha David Chukwuemeka a 100L Lawsanites also added, " I feel great knowing it is a hallmark to the Journey ahead"

The Attorney General of LAWSAN, Prince Ngozi Igbo a 400L student has thus to say, " The legal year as we know is one BASIC tradition in LAWSAN. It is a stepping stone that gives us access to a harmonious Academic session".
He added, "The aim for this year opening of legal year is to have a LAWSAN Guided by rules and principles , a LAWSAN of men and women with excellent moral standard, it is our desire to see Lawsanite that are committed to everything about LAWSAN which includes Academics , extra curriculum activities such as chamber meetings , moot and mock trails, debates etc "
" Faculty of law is the glory of the university and so we must be good Ambassadors any time , and any were we find ourselves" He concluded.

The President of LAWSAN, Her Excellency, Miss Chisom Precious Nwonu who sets the pace of becoming the first successful elected Female President of LAWSAN speaking with ACW-UA PRESS, express her unequivocal desire to see that all Lawsanites are exposed to the rudiments and practice of the law. " The law is practice and not theory, therefore I urge all Lawsanites to key in and get themselves involved in Chambers and the MOOT and MOCK System" She said.

The Director of MOOT and MOCK Trials, Miss Winnie from LLB4 affirmed that she would in her capacity make this year's edition a successful one.

The Senate President who is the Speaker of the LAWSAN Parliament, Rt. Hon. Phillip Uchenna speaking with ACW-UA PRESS Correspondents has this to say, " I expect a smooth running of 2019 /2020 legal year. It's going to be a learning environment, not just the theoretical aspect but the practical aspect of the judicial system and how it works. So, generally, I expect a smooth, effective, and educative legal year ahead. ", He therefore encourages the New inducted Students to get themselves abreast in character, learning and otherwise as far as the MOOT System is concerned.

The Chief Justice of LAWSAN, who is equally the Chief Justice of the SUG, His Lordship Rt. Hon. Justice Nnamani Emmanuel Anayo promised an unbiased LAWSAN judiciary which would live up to expectations in all ramifications under his watch. He also stated that he will introduce First Information Reports (FIR)
The Chief Justice, admonished
Lawsanites to brace up and "ready themselves, available and accessible to learning the practical aspects of our noble profession as one can not be a good lawyer without practicalising what he has learnt in theory."

Nonetheless, the satisfied responds of Students, some however expressed displeasure and dissatisfaction stating in Anonymous identity that this Year Opening Ceremony was a bored one compared to the previous year, they identified that there was Low turn out, no sound system during the Procession and Lawsanites betraying the dignity of the Association as they match in disarray and no mannerism.
Some also observed that the Key not Speaker who was represented was a very bored and an uninteresting speaker.
